I’ve been putting up the nicer photos of our apt, but THIS is reality. L loves to mess up the room, and these days I don’t know which toy (or tooth brush or cooking utensils) is in which box. I wonder how it’ll be when she starts to play with smaller pieces… “Mom!! Did you suck up Barbie’s shoes with your vacuum cleaner!?!?”

Smallest Art Gellery
September 27, 2009 · 14 Comments
When L came to us, some friends asked us what they can give us as a gift. We did not have any particular request, but from Taro and Hina, we knew exactly what we wanted – Taro’s art work. When my parents came from Japan, they brought us a framed photography, singed by both Hina and Taro in the back. We finally put it up on the wall yesterday!!

L’s First Hiking
September 27, 2009 · 5 Comments
It’s a great hiking season in Switzerland now!! On a sunny day, we took L to her first hiking in Uetliberg behind our apartment. To make the conclusion first, it was too early for a 17-month-old toddler.

Accidents
September 25, 2009 · 2 Comments
Miriam and Dylan joined us play at the community center near our apartment. Within a huge facility, there are a community center building, 4 different playgrounds and a small animal zoo in the midst of allotment garden. I come here everyday with L and enjoy the fresh air and relaxed snack time on the bench under trees or on the grass.
Yesterday, L wanted to equal with Dylan and did things beyond her capability. The result: two accidents.
Logistical Issues
September 25, 2009 · 6 Comments
Before I became a parent, I did not think that so many logistical problems can arise with the arrival of your child. For example, how do you go to the bathroom when you are out with your baby alone? Do you limit the amount of water intake before leaving home? If you have to use the public toilet, do you hold your baby in one arm and wipe your butt on the other? Or do you leave them in a stroller? I never thought of these things before. Then I also noticed that cleaning the apartment can be somewhat difficult.

Adoption Fraud in Vietnam
September 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment
I found this article on BBC and was shocked and saddened by the news.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8269121.stm
Thinking of so many mothers and children unwillingly and forcefully separated makes me both angry and helpless. I saw in the movie “Holy Lora” about the adoption fraud in Vietnam, but it’s just unethical of so many couples who are still trying to adopt illegally from Vietnam which, by the way, has not singed the Hague treaty.

Reaching Range Keeps Extending
September 20, 2009 · 3 Comments
L can reach higher and higher everyday. We are constantly moving things in the apartment to avoid a major damage. She also learned to step on something to reach a higher surface. Today she went on the scale to pull off my make-up box in the bathroom.

L and Electrical Device
September 18, 2009 · 7 Comments
L is busy at work. She loves to type on keyboard and scroll up and down. She does not play much with her toys any more but wants to touch every single electrical device in the apartment.
